Create a Vizio Account
You can create your Vizio account directly on the vizio.com/setup portal — the same page you’ll use to activate your TV — or at account.vizio.com if you want to set up your account before unboxing the TV. Either path leads to the same account, so choose whichever is most convenient.Creating a Vizio account is completely free. You will never be charged simply for having an account. Some premium streaming apps accessed through SmartCast require their own subscriptions, but the Vizio account itself costs nothing.
1
Go to vizio.com/setup or account.vizio.com
On your smartphone, tablet, or computer, open a web browser and navigate to vizio.com/setup. This is the primary activation and account portal. Alternatively, visit account.vizio.com to manage your account independently of the activation process. Both pages give you the option to sign in or create a new account.
2
Click 'Sign Up' or 'Create Account'
On the sign-in page, click the Create Account link below the login fields. This opens the registration form where you’ll enter your personal details. If you already have an account from a previous Vizio product, click Sign In instead — you don’t need to create a new account for each TV.
3
Enter Your Email Address
Type in a valid email address that you check regularly. This email becomes your Vizio account username, so use an address you have long-term access to. Vizio sends warranty confirmations, firmware update alerts, and account security notifications to this address.
4
Create a Strong Password
Choose a password that is at least eight characters long and includes a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid using the same password you use for other services. You’ll use this password each time you sign in to vizio.com/setup or the Vizio account portal.
5
Verify Your Email Address
Vizio sends a verification email to the address you provided. Open the email and click the Verify Email link inside. This step confirms your email address is valid and activates your account. If you don’t see the email within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder.
6
Link Your TV to Your Account
After verifying your email, return to vizio.com/setup and sign in with your new credentials. Follow the on-screen prompt to enter the 6-digit PIN shown on your Vizio TV screen. This PIN links your specific TV to your account and completes the activation process.
What Your Vizio Account Includes
Once your Vizio account is active and your TV is linked, a full suite of features becomes available to you. Here’s what you gain access to:- TV Registration and Warranty Tracking — Your TV is automatically registered to your account, documenting the purchase date, model number, and serial number. This simplifies the warranty claim process if you ever need service or a replacement.
- Firmware Update Notifications — Vizio releases regular software updates that improve performance, add features, and fix bugs. Your account ensures you receive notifications when updates are available for your specific model.
- SmartCast Personalization — Your account powers the personalized content recommendations on the SmartCast home screen. The more you watch, the smarter your recommendations become.
- WatchFree+ Preferences — WatchFree+ is Vizio’s built-in, no-subscription streaming service with hundreds of live channels. Your account saves your favorite channels and watch history across sessions.
- Multi-Device Management — From the account portal, you can view and manage all Vizio TVs registered to your account in one place, which is particularly useful if you have TVs in multiple rooms.
- App and Setting Sync — Some SmartCast settings and app preferences can be managed remotely through your Vizio account, saving you from navigating menus directly on the TV every time.
Link Your TV to Your Account
Linking your TV to your Vizio account is the activation step that makes everything official. This process happens at vizio.com/setup and requires the 6-digit PIN your TV displays on screen during the initial setup sequence.1
Power On Your TV and Note the PIN
Turn on your Vizio Smart TV and complete the WiFi connection step in the setup wizard. Once connected to the internet, the TV displays a 6-digit activation PIN on screen. Keep this PIN visible — you’ll need it in the next step.
2
Visit vizio.com/setup
On a phone, tablet, or computer, open a browser and go to vizio.com/setup. Sign in to your Vizio account if you aren’t already logged in.
3
Enter the 6-Digit PIN
In the PIN entry field on vizio.com/setup, type the 6-digit code shown on your TV screen and click Continue. The portal verifies the PIN, matches it to your TV’s serial number, and registers the device to your account.
4
Confirm Successful Activation
A success screen appears on both the vizio.com/setup portal and your TV. Your TV’s name and model number now appear in your Vizio account’s device list. Setup is complete.
Managing Multiple TVs
If your household has more than one Vizio Smart TV, your single Vizio account handles all of them. Each TV gets its own entry in the account’s device list, identified by model and a customizable nickname (such as “Living Room TV” or “Bedroom TV”). To add a second TV, simply repeat the activation process: power on the new TV, connect it to WiFi, note its 6-digit PIN, and visit vizio.com/setup again. Sign in to the same account you used for your first TV, enter the new PIN, and the device is added to your account automatically. From the account dashboard at account.vizio.com, you can:- View the registration status and warranty information for each TV
- See which firmware version each TV is running
- Remove a TV from your account if you sell or donate it
- Update the nickname or room label for each device
Account Security Tips
Keeping your Vizio account secure protects your personal information and ensures no unauthorized devices can be activated in your name. Follow these best practices: Use a Unique Password Don’t reuse a password from another service. If a different site experiences a data breach and you’ve used the same credentials, your Vizio account could be compromised. A password manager can help you generate and store strong, unique passwords. Enable Two-Factor Authentication If Vizio’s account portal offers two-factor authentication (2FA) for your account, enable it. With 2FA active, signing in requires both your password and a one-time code sent to your phone, adding a meaningful layer of protection. Review Your Linked Devices Regularly Log in to account.vizio.com periodically and check the list of devices registered to your account. If you see a TV you don’t recognize, remove it immediately and change your account password. Sign Out on Shared Computers If you sign in to vizio.com/setup or account.vizio.com on a public or shared computer, always click Sign Out when you’re finished. Never save your Vizio password in a public browser.Frequently Asked Questions
