Registering your Vizio Smart TV is one of the easiest things you can do to protect your investment and stay informed. When you register through vizio.com/setup or directly at account.vizio.com, Vizio links your TV to your account so they can notify you about critical firmware updates, product safety recalls, and warranty coverage. Whether you just unboxed a brand-new 4K SmartCast display or set up a TV you received as a gift, taking five minutes to complete registration now saves you a lot of hassle later if you ever need warranty service or technical support.
Registration is completely free and entirely optional — but Vizio strongly recommends it. Registered TVs receive proactive support and are much faster to service if a warranty claim is ever needed.

What You Need to Register

Before you visit vizio.com/setup or account.vizio.com to register, gather the following information. Having everything on hand means you can complete the process in one sitting without interruptions.

TV Serial Number

A unique alphanumeric code printed on the label on the back of your TV, or accessible through the on-screen menu. This is the most important piece of information required for registration.

Model Number

Found on the same label as the serial number on the back of the TV. It typically starts with letters followed by numbers (e.g., V755-J04).

Purchase Date

Needed to activate your warranty accurately. Check your receipt, order confirmation email, or the retailer’s website if you purchased online.

Email Address

You’ll need a valid email address to create or sign in to your Vizio account. Use one you check regularly so you receive firmware and recall notifications.
If you plan to wall-mount your Vizio TV, take a clear photo of the serial number label on the back before mounting it. Once the TV is on the wall, accessing that label can be very difficult without removing the entire unit.

Find Your TV’s Serial Number

Your TV’s serial number is required during registration. There are two reliable ways to locate it.
1

Check the Physical Label on the Back of Your TV

Look at the back panel of your Vizio TV. You’ll find a white or silver sticker — usually near the bottom edge or center — that lists the model number, serial number, and other manufacturing details. The serial number is typically labeled S/N and consists of letters and numbers.
2

Open the On-Screen System Information Menu

If your TV is already powered on and set up, you can find the serial number without moving the TV at all. Press the Menu button on your Vizio remote, then navigate to System, and select System Information. Your serial number, model number, and firmware version all appear on this screen.
3

Record the Serial Number

Write it down or type it into your phone’s notes app. Double-check every character — serial numbers are case-sensitive and must be entered exactly as shown during registration.

Register via vizio.com/setup

The fastest way to register your Vizio TV is through vizio.com/setup, which is also the same portal you use to activate SmartCast features on a new TV. The registration flow is built directly into the setup wizard, so many users complete it as part of initial TV configuration.
1

Navigate to vizio.com/setup

On a computer, tablet, or smartphone browser, go to vizio.com/setup. This portal handles both SmartCast activation and product registration for Vizio Smart TVs.
2

Sign In to Your Vizio Account

Enter your Vizio account email address and password, then click Sign In. If you don’t have a Vizio account yet, click Create Account and complete the sign-up form before continuing.
3

Select 'Register a Product'

Once signed in, look for the Register a Product option in the dashboard or on-screen prompts. Click it to begin the registration workflow.
4

Enter Your TV's Serial Number

Type your TV’s serial number exactly as it appears on the label or in System Information. The portal will automatically recognize the product type, model name, and eligible warranty period.
5

Enter Your Purchase Date and Retailer

Provide the date you purchased the TV and the name of the retailer (e.g., Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon). This information is used to activate your warranty coverage period.
6

Confirm and Submit

Review all the information on the confirmation screen, then click Submit or Complete Registration. You’ll receive a confirmation email at the address linked to your Vizio account.

Register at account.vizio.com

If you prefer to register directly through the Vizio account portal rather than the setup wizard, you can do so at account.vizio.com. This method works the same way and uses the same Vizio account credentials.
1

Go to account.vizio.com

Open a browser and navigate to account.vizio.com. This is your central Vizio account hub for managing registered products, warranty information, and account settings.
2

Sign In to Your Account

Enter your email address and password. If you’ve forgotten your credentials, use the Forgot Password link to reset access before proceeding.
3

Select 'My Products' or 'Register a Product'

In your account dashboard, find the My Products section or look for a Register a Product button. Click it to open the product registration form.
4

Complete the Registration Form

Enter your TV’s serial number, model number, purchase date, and retailer. All fields marked as required must be completed before you can submit the form.
5

Save Your Registration

Click Submit to finalize registration. Your TV will now appear under My Products in your account dashboard, along with its warranty expiration date and registered serial number.

Benefits of Registration

Registering your Vizio TV does more than just create a record — it actively improves your ownership experience in several meaningful ways.

Warranty Activation

Registration officially activates your limited warranty coverage. If your TV develops a hardware defect within the warranty period, having a registered product speeds up the claims process significantly.

Firmware Update Notifications

Vizio emails registered owners when new firmware is available for their specific model. These updates often include performance improvements, security patches, and new SmartCast features.

Product Recall Alerts

In the rare event that Vizio issues a safety recall or product advisory, registered owners are notified directly by email — a critical safety benefit, especially for households with children.

Faster Customer Support

When you contact Vizio support, agents can instantly look up your registered product, warranty status, and purchase history. This eliminates hold time and paperwork during support calls.

Check Your Registration Status

After registering, you can verify that your TV is properly linked to your account at any time.
1

Log In to account.vizio.com

Visit account.vizio.com and sign in with your Vizio account credentials.
2

Navigate to 'My Products'

In your account dashboard, click My Products. You should see a list of all Vizio products you’ve registered under this account.
3

Verify Your TV's Details

Find your TV in the list and confirm that the model number, serial number, purchase date, and warranty expiration date all appear correctly. If any details are wrong, click Edit to update them.
If your TV does not appear in the My Products list, the registration may not have completed successfully. Repeat the registration steps above or contact Vizio support for assistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. While providing a purchase date is helpful for warranty purposes, you can still register your TV without a receipt. Estimate your purchase date as accurately as possible and enter it during registration. If you need warranty service, Vizio may request proof of purchase at that point, but initial registration does not require documentation.
Absolutely. You can register a gifted TV using your own Vizio account. You’ll need the TV’s serial number (from the back label or System Information menu) and an approximate purchase date. Enter your own email and account information as the registrant, since you are now the owner.
Registration requires your name, email address, and product details. Vizio’s privacy policy governs how this data is used. Vizio uses registration data to send product notifications and warranty communications. You can review the full privacy policy at vizio.com and opt out of marketing emails while still keeping your product registered.
Not necessarily. Completing the SmartCast activation at vizio.com/setup links your TV to your account for streaming purposes, but product registration (warranty activation) is a separate step in the same portal. Look for a Register Product or Confirm Registration prompt during or after the setup flow to ensure both steps are complete.
