# Vizio TV Login Help – Recover Your Vizio Account

> Trouble signing in to your Vizio account? Reset your password, recover your email, and resolve login issues at vizio.com/setup or account.vizio.com.

Your Vizio account is the key to everything from completing SmartCast activation at [vizio.com/setup](https://vizio.com/setup) to managing your registered products and warranty information at [account.vizio.com](https://account.vizio.com). When login stops working — whether because of a forgotten password, an unrecognized email, or an unexpected account lockout — it can feel like a roadblock to using your TV's features. The good news is that most Vizio account login issues are straightforward to resolve in just a few minutes. This guide walks you through every common scenario so you can get back into your account quickly and confidently.

<Note>
  Your Vizio account is a single, unified account used across all Vizio services — including vizio.com/setup, account.vizio.com, and the SmartCast app. Fixing your login in one place restores access everywhere.
</Note>

## Sign In to Your Vizio Account

If you simply need a refresher on the standard login process, follow these steps. The sign-in flow is identical whether you're accessing vizio.com/setup or account.vizio.com.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Vizio Account Portal">
    On a computer, tablet, or mobile browser, navigate to **account.vizio.com** or **vizio.com/setup**, depending on what you're trying to do. Both portals use the same Vizio account credentials.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter Your Email Address">

  </Step>
</Steps>

Forgetting a password is the most common login issue Vizio users encounter. The password reset process is fast and only requires access to your registered email inbox.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Click 'Forgot Password'">
    On the Vizio account sign-in page at **account.vizio.com**, click the **Forgot Password** link below the password field. This starts the self-service password recovery flow.
  </Step>

    Open your email and look for a message from Vizio with a subject like "Reset Your Vizio Password." If you don't see it in your main inbox within five minutes, check your spam or junk mail folder — automated password reset emails are sometimes filtered.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click the Reset Link">
    Open the Vizio email and click the **Reset Password** button or link inside. This link is time-sensitive and typically expires within 24 hours, so use it promptly.

</Tip>

## Find Your Vizio Account Email

Sometimes the login problem isn't the password — it's not knowing which email address you used when you originally created your account. This is especially common if you have multiple email addresses or set up your account during a quick activation at vizio.com/setup.

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Search Your Inbox" icon="magnifying-glass">
    Search all your email inboxes for messages from "vizio.com." A past order confirmation, firmware update notification, or welcome email from Vizio will show you which address is on file.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Check Your TV's Settings" icon="gear">
    On your Vizio TV, press **Menu** and navigate to **System → Reset & Admin** or **SmartCast Home → Account**. Your linked Vizio account email may be displayed on screen.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Try Your Most-Used Addresses" icon="list">
    If the searches above come up empty, try signing in with each email address you commonly use. The portal will indicate whether an email is recognized or not, which helps narrow down the right account.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Contact Vizio Support" icon="headset">
    If you genuinely cannot identify which email was used, Vizio support can look up your account using your TV's serial number and help you verify or recover the associated email address.
  </Card>

## Account Locked?

Vizio's account system automatically locks access after **five consecutive failed login attempts** as a security measure. This protects your account from unauthorized brute-force access, but it can be frustrating if you're the one who entered the wrong password multiple times.

When your account is locked, you'll typically see a message indicating that the account has been temporarily suspended or that too many login attempts have been made. Here's what to do:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Wait for the Lockout Period to Expire">
    Vizio account lockouts are usually temporary. Wait **15 to 30 minutes** without attempting any further logins, then try again. Repeated failed attempts during the lockout window may extend the lock duration.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Reset Your Password">
    The fastest way to regain access is to reset your password using the **Forgot Password** link, even if you remember your original password. This process also clears the lockout flag on your account.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Contact Vizio Support if the Lockout Persists">
    If your account remains locked after the wait period and a password reset, contact Vizio customer support. Have your TV's serial number and the registered email address ready so they can verify your identity and manually unlock the account.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Create a New Account

If you've exhausted all recovery options and cannot regain access to your original Vizio account — or if you simply never created one — you can start fresh with a new account. This is also the right step if you purchased a secondhand TV that was registered to someone else's email.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Go to account.vizio.com">
    Navigate to **account.vizio.com** in your browser and click **Create Account** or **Sign Up**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill In Your Details">
    Provide your first name, last name, a valid email address, and a strong password. Agree to Vizio's terms of service and privacy policy.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify Your Email">
    Vizio will send a verification email to the address you provided. Open it and click the **Verify Email** link to activate your account.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Register Your TV and Sign In Everywhere">
    Once your new account is active, sign in at **vizio.com/setup** to link your TV to the new account, then register your product under **My Products** at account.vizio.com.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Two-Factor Authentication

If you have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled on your Vizio account, you'll be prompted for a verification code after entering your email and password successfully. This adds an extra layer of security to prevent unauthorized access.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Enter Your Email and Password Normally">
    Sign in at **account.vizio.com** as usual. After successful credential entry, the portal will prompt you for your second factor instead of immediately granting access.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check Your Verification Method">
    Vizio will send a verification code to your registered phone number via SMS or to your email address, depending on how 2FA was configured on your account.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the Verification Code">
    Type the six-digit code into the verification field on screen and click **Verify** or **Confirm**. Codes typically expire within 10 minutes, so enter it promptly.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Troubleshoot If You Don't Receive a Code">
    If the code doesn't arrive, click **Resend Code**. Make sure your phone has signal if you're using SMS verification. If you've lost access to your 2FA method entirely, contact Vizio support to disable 2FA after verifying your identity.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Common Login Errors

<Accordion title="'Incorrect Password' Error Even Though You're Sure It's Right">
  This error is almost always caused by one of a few things: Caps Lock being on, a special character typed differently on a mobile keyboard, or a browser autofill inserting an outdated saved password. Clear the password field completely, toggle Caps Lock off, and type your password manually. If it still fails, use the **Forgot Password** flow to set a brand-new password you can control precisely.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="'Email Not Recognized' or 'No Account Found'">
  This message means the email address you entered doesn't match any Vizio account in the system. You may have registered with a different email address. Try searching your inboxes for past Vizio emails to identify which address you used. Also check that you haven't accidentally added extra characters or chosen the wrong domain (e.g., .net instead of .com).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="'Account Suspended' or 'Account Disabled'">
  Account suspension typically occurs due to a terms-of-service violation, unusual login activity, or a security flag. You cannot resolve a suspension through self-service password reset. Contact Vizio customer support directly — have your serial number and the account email ready. Support can review the account status and explain what steps are needed to restore access.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Sign-In Page Won't Load or Redirects to an Error">
  Login portal errors are usually temporary and caused by network issues or brief maintenance windows on Vizio's side. Try the following: clear your browser cache and cookies, switch to a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge), or try from a different network (e.g., mobile data instead of WiFi). If the issue persists across multiple devices and networks, check Vizio's status page or social media accounts for any reported service outages.
